Two separate UK £5 crowns will be issued in 2005. One to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, and one to commemorate the death of Admiral Horatio Nelson at the battle.
Better photos will follow as and when available, the Royal Mint are notoriously slow and inefficient at releasing such information, and making it available in an appropriate format to dealers and distributors.
Gold Silver and Base Metal Versions
As from 1990, the five pound crowns have been produced in a number of different versions, and in three different metals. An ordinary uncirculated base metal version will be available from banks and post offices later in the year.
A proof version of the above cupro-nickel coin may be available as part of the 2005 Proof Coin Sets.
The silver proof version and gold proof version are also expected in January.
Apparently there has been a production delay to both the gold and silver proof versions at The Royal Mint, due to packaging problems, edge lettering, or both. This is currently expected to cause a delay of about two weeks.
