Royal Mint Modern Issues
Each year since 1970, the Royal Mint has produced special editions of coin sets for collectors, which are also ideal as gifts.
We will be making advance reservations for an allocation of the 2005 United Kingdom coin sets, and will be offering them for sale at or below the officially published Royal Mint issue price.

For 2005, there are five variations of the coin sets available:

• Ten Coin Uncirculated Set
  Contains the ten circulating coins, from the Two Pounds down to the Penny, but please note they do not contain the Crowns.
  Although not struck to the same standards as the proof coins, these coins are also specially examined and selected before packaging. They are all superior to the mass produced coins which are made for circulation because of the absence of bag marks and scratches.
  The total face value of coins in the uncirculated sets is £6.38 per set.
  They are also packaged in a colourful attractive and informative folder.

• Twelve Coin Proof Sets
  "Proof" coins are specially struck with great care and attention. The dies are highly polished on the flat surfaces, with a frosted finish on the design, the blanks from which the coins are struck are also polished before striking (minting), so that the finished coins show their designs to the absolutely best effect. The raised relief parts of the design have a frosted finish, and stand out from the background (field) which has a mirror finish. Each coin is carefully inspected prior to packaging, and is guaranteed to be perfect and without any blemish.
  The total face value of coins in the proof sets is £16.38 per set.
  This years proof sets contain:

  • The new 2005 Guy Fawkes Two Pounds Coin

  The Royal Mint have stopped producing the "Gift Pack" proof sets.
• Executive Proof Set
  As the above Proof Sets, but with a booklet, and housed in a completely redesigned presentation pack, with space for personal mementoes.
  In 2000, the executive proof set sold out at the Royal Mint without ever going on open sale. It was then followed by delays while the supplier of the new packaging design tried to iron out problems. We managed to get a very small supply, but despite the Royal Mint sell-out, we found these not to be very popular, if you want them, we will have them.

  Contains all nine denominations, from £5 Crown down to Penny.

2005 Crowns
These will be produced in a number of different versions.
The selected Uncirculated "Specimen" version are available now, packaged in an attractive folder. Silver and gold version will be available later.
UK Price £9.95
An ordinary uncirculated mass-produced version will be available from banks and post offices at its face value of £5 later in the year. Please note we do not normally handle this item. In previous years, we received complaints about the quality and finish of these ordinary mass produced and bulk handled versions.
