Four Types - Three Designs
There are four types of George V halfcrowns. The first two types have the first type portrait, and a shield in garter on their reverse. These span the period from 1911 to 1926 inclusive, but the silver content changed from sterling (925 parts per thousand) to 500 parts per thousand after 1919.

Obverse:
Bare head of King George V, facing left.
The obverse inscription reads:
GEORGIUS V DEI GRA BRITT OMN REX

Reverse:
A large crowned quartered shield within a garter bearing the inscription "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE".
The reverse legend reads:
FID DEF IND IMP HALF CROWN (Date)
