| Abundance Reverse on Antoninianus of Gallienus |
|
Abundantia, Abundance, or Plenty
Although there were no temples or altars dedicated to Abundance, she can be considered as a personification or allegorical deity. She was known to the Greeks as Euthenia.
She is usually shown holding ears of corn and a cornucopiae in both hands, allowing its contents to spill freely onto the ground in apparently carefree profusion.
On coins of Gallienus the inscription "ABUNDANTIA AUG" stands for "ABUNDANTIA AUGUSTI", alluding to the abundance of food and resources provided by the emperor or through his good government.
Obverse
