The Guernsey 1972 Crown Features a Statue of Eros
Issued for the Silver Wedding of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
Struck in sterling silver, this attractive crown shows the Royal Coat-of-Arms, three leopards passant in a shield, on the obverse, which is inscribed "Bailiwick of Guernsey - Twenty Five Pence - 1972".
The reverse features the Statue of Eros from Piccadilly Circus in London, sculpted in aluminium by Sir Alfred Gilbert RA in 1893 as a tribute to the Earl of Shaftesbury, and originally known as "The Shaftesbury Memorial". The reverse legend reads "Elizabeth and Philip 1972 - 1947".
