Canadian Silver Dollars
Canada has issued silver dollars, both commemorative and definitive types, from 1935 to 1967, struck in 80% silver. After this it reduced the silver content in 1972. From to 1987 it continued to issue a smaller sized cupro-nickel dollar using the previous "Voyageur" reverse design showing a canoe. From 1967 to 1998 it issued much smaller sized "Loon" dollars, named after the bird on its reverse design. From 1970 there have also been commemorative issues of different sizes issued in cupro-nickel and silver.
