Austrian Commemorative Silver 50 Schillings
In 1959, the Austrian Mint started to issue a series of commemorative 50 schilling, and also 25 schilling coins. Although these have not been issued in every year, the Mint appears to have more regular;y found excuses to issue them in more recent years, and in some years there is more than one different event commemorated.
The first of these coins issued, in 1959, celebrated Andreas Hofer, who revolted against the occupying French Napoleonic forces in 1809.
