Abana & Riverdance on Anchorsholme Beach, Cleveleys near Blackpool
The container & ferry ship Riverdance beached at Anchorsholme, Cleveleys on Thursday 31st January 2008, near the Abana wrecked in 1894.

Photo
Our photograph shows the remains of the hull of the Abana in the foreground, with the Riverdance in the background.
Photographs of the Riverdance taken on different days show the ship taking on a progressively more severe list onto its starboard side. By early March, it appears to have stabilised at about 85°.
We submitted a copy of this photograph to the BBC, who used it on Northwest Tonight and Inside Outside North West.

Abana
The Abana ran aground on the 22nd December 1894. All 17 crew were saved by a heroic lifeboat rescue. It was taken on the afternoon of 14th February 2008, about one hour after low tide.
