Four Versions
The Millennium Crown 2000 is available in four different versions:-

Ordinary Uncirculated
An ordinary uncirculated version which is available from banks and post offices.

Specimen in Folder
A selected uncirculated Specimen Version, in an attractive folder. Available now.

2000 Silver Proof Edition
The Silver Proof version which we illustrate on this page. It is packaged in a plastic capsule which is housed in a royal blue velvet case. This is the first British coin to be struck in fine silver (.999 instead of .925).
Proof coins are struck from specially prepared mirror-finish dies, and a frosted design. The coin blanks are also polished before striking. Each coin is then individually inspected to ensure it is entirely without blemish.

Krause Error
Although we recommend and use the excellent range of Krause publications, including their Standard Catalogue of World Coins, in such an ambitious publishing project, there are almost certain to be errors, we find errors and omissions almost every week. This is not intended as negative criticism of Krause, simply a fact of life. With 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th / 21st century volumes, plus a World Gold Coins volume, totalling over 7,200 pages.
In the 2005 Krause Standard Catalogue of World Coins, on page 925, there is an error in the listings of these coins, KM#1006a cites both 1999 and 2000 silver proof issues with no-gold plating. This is incorrect, whereas the information shown on our web pages is correct.
